Tier Restoration uses the PCL System to thoroughly investigate and inspect your water damage:
Perimeter – We first scan the area with a Thermal Imaging Camera to find the perimeter of the water. Do you want to guess which way water can travel? We found it goes down, sideways, and up. Water can travel across framing behind walls then show up on the other side of the room. Standing water can wick up drywall at the rate of more than one inch per hour. While scanning, a moisture meter is used to verify if something is wet. We do this until the horizontal and vertical perimeter is identified.
Cavities – water damage is frequently found in cavities like: under stairs, wall voids, elevator shafts, conduit, box framing, and sleeper floors. These must be opened to allow for evaporation.
Layers – water also gets trapped in layers of building materials, like wallpaper, floor covering and subfloor layers, drywall layers, built-in furniture on walls and floors, trim pieces like base and casing, and laminated structural boards. These are removed when possible. We use penetrating meters to document thorough drying when they are structural and cannot be removed.
As you see, there is a lot more to preventing mold growth in a water damage than running some fans and dehumidifiers for a while until it seems dry. Most places can be dried in 3 to 7 days. Sometimes concrete and thick or laminated structures that are saturated can take several weeks to get back to their pre-loss moisture content.

Extraction is the key to rapid drying. Tier Restoration uses wands, weighted wands, riding extraction machines, and everything from portable extractors to truck-mounted vacuums. In special cases, 2″ gasoline powered trash pumps like used to drain a pond, and sewage extraction pump trucks are used.
Tier Restoration uses specialized equipment for the drying process, including heat source drying, wood floor drying mats, cavity injection systems, low and high-velocity air movers. For dehumidification, low-grain refrigerant and desiccant systems are used.
